Arda Turan: "We want to win back-to-back Champions Leagues"

The attacking midfielder admitted that Barça are desperate to become the first club to retain the Champions League and that he cried a lot after Atlético lost the 2014 final against Real Madrid.
Arda Turan and the 'Azulgranas' dressing room have set themselves a very clear goal for the season. "Here's hoping we can win back-to-back Champions Leagues. That's the subject we talk most about in the dressing room and what most motivates us. We want to become the first team to win the Champions League twice on the bounce", Turan told radio show Què t'hi jugues on Cadena SER.

The Turkey international has never won the competition personally and missed out on his only chance to feature in the final, when his Atlético side were defeated in dramatic circumstances by city rivals Real Madrid in 2014, having picked up an injury during the previous week's La Liga title decider at none other than the Camp Nou.

"I cried a lot when we lost the Champions League final against Real Madrid. I've never watched the end of that match back. I don't know if we'd have won it if I'd been on the pitch. I've always felt like an important player, but a team is about more than just one player. Maybe it would've gone worse if I'd have played", Arda remarked.

Turan also heaped praise on his 'Culés' teammates, singling out Leo Messi and Andrés Iniesta: "Iniesta is my idol, he's incredible. Messi is the best player ever, but Iniesta's game is incomparable. He enjoys playing and he's a joy to watch"
