Cowan, of Ramsgate, Kent, posted an image of the child, and said: "Can't wait til he's a tot, the tracks are already calling his name."

She had initially deied the harassment charges, but changed her plea on Friday.

Cowan broke down in tears in the dock at Canterbury Crown Court, changing her plea from not guilty "by reason of insanity".

The message was sent some time between January and June last year, sparking a police investigation.

Mrs Fergus responded to the taunt at the time, saying: "Cant believe that some1 on here is still blamin me 4 my sons murder it took me a long time 2 stop blamin myself thanx 4 ruinin my evenin (sic)".

The killers are pictured leading James out of the shopping centre in Bootle, Merseyside Cowan was granted bail ahead of sentencing later this month, but had been banned from contacting Mrs Fergus and other witnesses.

She could be sentenced to as much as five years in prison.
