FANS of This Morning were not happy today after watching a rather
uncomfortable interview with boxer Frank Bruno, where he revealed he
will be returning to the boxing ring.
The 54-year-old appeared on the ITV show to talk about his depression
and battle with bipolar disorder, but viewers seemed more interested in
the fact that he was making a comeback in sport. When he made the big reveal halfway through his interview, host Phillip Schofield asked him: "Do you think that's a good idea?"
"I train every day, its my job, its my profession," he added.
"Oh Frank, what are you doing getting back in the ring at 54, it's not way we will all want to remember Frank Bruno," one person tweeted.
Another posted: "Frank Bruno is mentally unstable & 54 years old... ANYONE who gives him a Boxing license should be investigated. I love Frank but FFS!"
Viewers of This Morning also felt that he shouldn't have appeared on the programme at all.
After Frank accused the Government of being "the biggest drug dealers in the world", and slammed Prime Minister David Cameron, people took to social media to air their concerns.
Another added: "Watching Frank Bruno on This Morning. Very sad. He is obviously unwell. Uncomfortable viewing!"
Frank was being interviewed by hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip, when he began making controversial comments about the drugs given to patients suffering from bipolar disorder.
Frank, who was hospitalised again last year, also criticised the after care given to patients.
"The after care is a load of rubbish. They're driving around in big cars, have big houses and they don't care about the patients," he alleged. "The government are tricking people."
The former heavyweight champion then spoke briefly about his son, Franklyn, who is following in his father's boxing footsteps.
"He's got to have a little bit more respect for his dad," he said. "He's a good boy, he's been through his troubles but he's going to be better than myself. He's a very dangerous boy."
